KDC Execs Talk State Farm

Share Thoughts on Years-Long Projects

It’s been more than a decade since KDC started working with State Farm to build the insurance company’s regional hubs in the Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth areas. Today, State Farm occupies three office towers totaling 1.1 million square feet in Park Center, KDC’s 17-acre master-planned project in the Perimeter Center area of Dunwoody, GA, and four office towers totaling 2 million square feet in CityLine, KDC’s 186-acre master-planned development in Richardson, Texas. KDC Division President Larry Wilson and Executive Vice President Don Mills have been immersed in the State Farm projects since the beginning. Wilson led the State Farm project at Park Center, while Mills headed up the State Farm project at CityLine. Without question, Park Center and CityLine are Wilson and Mill’s longest running projects, if not the largest. Over the past 10+ years, these development execs have witnessed innumerable changes as they guided the State Farm projects to a successful completion. See what they have to say about their experiences as they built these transformative projects.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF COLLIN COUNTY BREAKS GROUND

KDC started construction this summer on a second location for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County (CACCC), a nonprofit offering safety, healing and justice to kids and families suffering from child abuse in northern Collin County. The additional campus in McKinney ensures CACCC’s ability to serve 100% of those affected well into the future.

The full-service facility provides law enforcement, medical professionals and other experts support in one location to create an efficient and effective recovery process for children and their families. Over 4,500 child abuse cases are recorded in the area and are expected to increase as the population is projected to triple over the next 25 years. CACCC would reach capacity by 2023 without additional space and resources. KDC’s work, along with many others, enables more nurses, therapists and caseworkers to help those suffering free of charge.

Located at Heritage Drive and Harroun Avenue in McKinney, the 40,000-square-foot building will be named The Speese Campus after long-time supporters of CACCC, Carolyn and Mark Speese. KDC is working with Alliance Architects and Spring Valley Construction Company to deliver the project in Fall 2022.
