CORPORATE PROFILE
COLER SNELLEMAN
Senior Director, Oncor Supply Chain
What is the best vacation you've taken?
While I’ve had the good fortune of traveling around the world, my favorite vacation was a recent trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park. My family of four traveled over the Fourth of July last year and stayed for almost a week. It was a chance for us to slow down, hike the outdoors, play golf, and observe some truly amazing things we’ve never seen before such as wild buffalo and geysers shooting water hundreds of feet high. And as an added benefit, my cell phone rarely had a signal which made the vacation even better.
If you weren’t doing the job you have now, what would you want to do?
If I weren't doing Supply Chain things, I would be in the front office of a NFL team. I always find it fascinating on what makes a winning culture, and just as importantly, what keeps a winning culture over time. Yes, the coach has a key role but there are many others that contribute. Moreover, the dynamics of player market values and contract negotiations, salary caps, scouting and drafting, and the overall business marketing of a team and equally motivating. Until then, however, I will stay with my day job while managing my dynasty NFL fantasy league.
What job would you be terrible at?
I would give new meaning to a ‘starving artist.’ I certainly appreciate art – painting, sculpting, drawing, you name it – but I have no creative bone in my body. It always impresses me when I see artists on the streets drawing caricatures. They are so talented, and I am often amazed how easy it is for them.
If you could have any super power, what would it be?
My super power would be the ability to sleep through the entire night without ever waking up. Occasionally it happens, and when it does, I have a different level of rest. There is no better way to start the day!
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Right here. I’ve lived all over – New York, Boston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, and Sao Paulo – but no place has better people and friends, schools, or community. It still seems unbelievable that my wife and I made it here to the Park Cities after so many years away from Texas.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
KDC RETURNS AS GRAND MARSHAL FOR THE PARADE OF PLAYHOUSES AT NORTHPARK CENTER
It’s that time of year when shoppers go to NorthPark Center for more than shopping. The Dallas CASA Parade of Playhouses annual event takes place June 14-30 featuring creative and fun-themed playhouses on display. KDC is returning for the fifth year as the Grand Marshal of this highly anticipated event.
The Parade of Playhouses brings together business leaders to design, build and donate one-of-a-kind imaginative children’s playhouses to raise funds that allow Dallas CASA to provide more volunteer advocates to help abused or neglected children have safe, permanent homes. During the 17-day event, raffle tickets are sold for the opportunity to win a playhouse.
This year’s event will offer 16 imaginative playhouses of various and interesting shapes and designs, including a mountain climbing-themed playhouse, a triangle-shaped playhouse, and one shaped like a scoop of ice cream, aptly named “Scoop There It Is.” All proceeds from raffle ticket sales and sponsorships benefit the children served by Dallas CASA.
As Grand Marshal, KDC serves as a matchmaker of sorts, using its 30-plus years of experience working with top-notch local architects, construction companies, and designers to coordinate the scheduling and planning of the playhouses. KDC has continually worked with CASA and event organizers to increase the number of playhouses, which in turn helps increase critical funds and build awareness of Dallas CASA.
“KDC has participated in the Parade of Playhouses since 2019, and we consider it a privilege to serve as the Grand Marshal for this important fundraiser,” said Kurt Petersen, KDC executive vice president, design and construction. “This wonderful partnership allows us to utilize our relationships and resources within the commercial real estate world to make a huge impact on the lives of children.”
KDC has a long history of supporting the community through the development of new facilities for nonprofits such as the 24 Hour Club, Magdalen House, OurCalling, Cedar Crest Community Center, Jubilee Park and Community Center, Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County, and more.
The Parade of Playhouses is presented by Crest Cadillac / Crest INFINITI / Crest Volvo with NorthPark Center serving as the parade host. For more information including raffle details, click here.
